Equine Science Program

Through our Equine Science Program, students will gain the knowledge, work experience and professional contacts to be able to succeed in the equine industry. This program is designed for individuals seeking to further their education and build their credibility. The distance education format allows students to complete the course from anywhere in the U.S., while also providing a more flexible schedule for course assignments.

Students will learn practical knowledge based in equine science including nutrition, exercise science, facilities, pasture management, care and first aid, etc. Not only are Meridian graduates able to succeed in the industry, but our students also learn the value of communication, time management, hard work and numerous more personal values. This curriculum was developed by equine professionals for equine professionals; we educate the knowledge and skills that employers and clients are searching for.

In today’s industry, it isn’t enough to have the “horse skills”, employers are also looking for the social skills necessary to communicate and work with clients and colleagues, the business skills to be able to manage both horses and money, and the drive and passion to work hard and build a career. Are you currently or potentially managing your own horse business? Meridian can provide you with the credentials and resources to take you to the next level in equine care, client relations, business management and building your brand and reputation.

Our Equine Science Program consists of general education, equine core and equine elective courses. Students are able to tailor their education through our elective course options and externship. The Equine Science Program includes six credit hours of externship for students to work with other equine professionals, or professionals in their desired career, and receive practical work experience prior to graduation.
